Strathyre to Callander

Strathyre to Callander National Cycle Route 7: South

From Strathyre Bike Hire, return to the main road and after safely crossing the road, the Cycle Route is on the Left Hand Side following the River Balvaig.

It then crosses this via way of a timber bridge and is then hard-pack.  There is a very small climb out of Strathyre which soon drops down towards Loch Lubnaig.  Loch Lubnaig is a great spot for relaxing with your family, paddling in the shallow edges and having lunch.  Skimming stones is always great fun!

The track returns to tarmac past Strathyre Forest Cabins and down into the Car Park for Ben Ledi, where at the end you pass through a small gate and back onto a lovely woodland off-road track.

After a few miles you will reach the main road beween Callander and Aberfoyle.  Take care crossing here.  Open Farmland, sheep, lambs and horses dominate the landscape and before long you will find yourself in the park alongside the River in Callander.
